Stats Day Monday Week 5

Well another week as gone by and I am still trying my best to lose a little weight. I will have to admit that it is getting a little harder to get out and run. I think that it’s more mental that physical. I have been feeling it a little in my knees, but my mind is trying to tell me that I need to take it easy and have another slice of pizza. I ran in the Palace Saloon 5k this weekend. It was the first time I have ever run this race. I really enjoyed it. Unlike most 5k that starts and finish in the same place this race starts at Messer Field and finishes at the Palace Saloon.

I ran the race 10 sec (28:23) quicker than I ran the Lee’s Place 5k the week before. I was happy that I made it less than 30 minutes. I was very happy that my wife ran much faster that her Lee’s Place time. She cut 3 minutes and 36 seconds off of her time finishing in 0:32:31.

Oh yeah this race was just another great event put on by the GWTC

Things that I need to improve

Posted: April 11, 2007 in List, Religion, Weight

Things that I need to improve. We all know that there are things in our life that you just need or want to do better. I thought I would list a few of the things in my life that I know I want to improve.

1. Understanding of God: I feel that I can always learn more about the God. I KNOW, I should read my bible more! I have gone to church most all my life and sometimes I still feel that I have not even comprehended 1% of what Christianity has to teach me.

2. Organization: I am one of those people that 99% of the world would call unorganized. If you look at my office you will see that what I mean. The odd thing is that I love lists, schedules, and tidiness. I just do not like creating them or cleaning.

3. Communication: I think most people can work on this aspect of their lives. I would like to be a better communicator to my beautiful wife and my family. Sometime I can not express the proper words, so I say nothing at all.

4. Focus: I need to start and finish things. College is a good example. I know that I can do anything asked of me, but I often lose focus. I need to work on finishing a project with the same enthusiasm level as I started.

5. Work Ethic: I do not think that I am a bad employee. I do think that I can improve at work.

6. Health: This is another aspect of my life that I need improve. I have started trying to live healthier life. It is a hard change for me because I love being active, but I love to eat copious amounts of fatty foods too.

These are just a couple of thing that I feel I need to improve in my life. Is there anything that you think you should improve?

Stats Day Monday Week 4

Monday Week 4.

Well I do not have much to say I did get some running in this week and I hope that I was able to keep my previous stats. I did eat a lot of food this past week, so I am a little disappointed with myself. My wife, my mom, and I ran in the 5th annual Lee’s Place 5k this weekend. It was bitter cold and pretty windy.  I am happy with my results. I ran the race in 28:37 and did not stop once! Although the time is not great I was happy that I did not stop and walk any on the run. I hope that I can ratchet up my running this week. I will be running in the 33rd annual Palace Saloon 5k this coming weekend. I encourage all 7 people that read this blog to signup and run. If you have any question about the race you can look at the Gulf Winds Track Club website for more details.

Secretary’s Challenge

Monday fitness day

OK this is a day late SUE ME!

Yesterday was my fitness day here on the BLOG. I mentioned last week that I would give stats, so you will find my weekly stats at the bottom of this post.

What I wanted to talk about today is a voluntary event I participated in yesterday. It is called the Secretary’s Challenge.

It is an initiative that the current Florida Department of Corrections Secretary has established. I personally think it is a great idea. Here are the program goals:

1. A more physically fit workforce that is better prepared to meet emergencies when they arise
2. Improved productivity
3. Improved attendance
4. Improved employee health resulting from being physically fit
5. Reduced healthcare costs
6. Improved employee appearance, self esteem, and professional pride
7. Improved general sense of well-being
8. A safer environment for employees and inmates

There were two time yesterday for people participate in the challenge 9:00 AM and 4:00PM. I competed at 4:00, but also went to the 9:00 o’clock session to watch Secretary McDonough. HE IS A MONSTER!!!!!! I will not reveal his stats until he releases them first, but I will say that for a 60 year man he is great physical shape.

The contest consisted of 3 events push-ups, curl-ups (sit-ups), and 1.5 mile run. We divided into pairs for the push-ups and sit-ups. One person would do the exercise and the other would verify that s/he was doing the action properly and a keep count for the person doing the action. Both push-ups and sit-ups have a 2 minute time limit. The 1.5 mile run was 6 laps around the track with a running clock.

My Secretary’s Challenge stats

Push-Ups: 38
Curl-Ups: 41
1.5 mile run: 13:13

This week’s personal stats

Weight: 236
Waist: 38/39 inches

Get in My Belly or Not!

Posted: March 19, 2007 in Weight

Ok so I have been a slob lately and need to lose about 25lbs, so I have started to diet and exercise. Well, really I would not call it a diet as much as it is watching what I eat. I going to try to eat more health and eat less food. Drink more water and exercise more. I am going to be playing full court basketball 3 times a week during my lunch hour. Well that’s plan anyway. So, I think that on Mondays I will update the blog with my progression.

So my current stats:

Weight: 236lbs

Waist:   38/39 inches
